For the wannabe Instagram vegans to avid and accustomed eco-warriors. We’ve all seen the David Attenborough documentary which made even the most eco-conscious of us feel guilty we weren’t doing more. Since when did saving our planet become so confusing?! (Hands up who else thought switching off lights, turning off the tap whilst brushing your teeth, half-heartedly recycling what you could be arsed to wash up and occasionally not flushing a wee was living your best eco- life?).
But if eating tofu isn’t your thing, work is too busy to be hugging trees and picking up plastic on the beach, or you’re simply just too busy saving your kids from beating the living daylights out of one another to be all-that-bothered about devoting your precious alone time to saving the planet, then there’s still a way to make a huge difference that’s worth bragging about.
A small batch company who takes the hard work out of looking for your plastic free, zero waste, climate-positive and vegan best lives with our one stop shop for bathroom and beauty essentials. Donating 5% of all profits to carbon-offsetting, animal loving and eco-preservative organisations.
Because not all heroes wear capes, Brenda.
Solid shampoo, solid conditioner, vegan beauty, small businesses, shampoo bars, conditioner bars, candles, home fragrance, reed diffusers.
In short, they are HQ's three cheeky children, who through their insufferable allergies to essentially everything on the planet, are (almost) entirely vegan.
Together with their allergies and trying to find "kinder" versions of the plastic-free bathroom alternatives, we realised that there wasn't a great deal of choice. After studying Cosmetic Chemistry, we've formulated both kinder-to-skin AND kinder-to-planet alternatives... and we're pretty chuffed to be able to share it with you after a great deal of hardwork.
Disclaimer: With a Professional Rugby player for a Husband, its tricky to get us ALL to eat/live completely vegan without the inevitable "yeah I'll eat that" as he's adding 3 chicken breasts as a side dish. BUT - It's all about trying our very hardest to collectively lead a cleaner, greener, kinder lifestyle whilst remaining as sane as humanly possible within a household full of maniacs.
Tips on where to start getting rid of the plastic in your home...
First Rule: Think of plastic as an orphan.
If you have plastic that will outlive you, look after it until you die. Leave it in your will to your grandkids, sell it, recycle it, donate it, gift it.. whatever you do.. try every possible alternative to just slinging it in the bin.
Second Rule: Phasing out.
Much like burning bridges with a friend that's standing in the way of your new best life; plastic also needs to get gone. However, don't just chuck away a half-used bottle of shampoo because you want a trendy plastic-free bar. Use every last drop of that baby until you have to finally say a sweet good "BYE Felicia".
Third Rule: Think before you buy.
There is usually ALWAYS a plastic free alternative, especially when it comes to single-use plastic. When starting a new plastic-free-zone-home (catchy), you may not automatically think there is a product that omits the use of plastic.
Think again, Karen. Google is your new best friend.
Fourth Rule: Some things are sent to try us.
If something you need to buy has plastic components (we've not yet managed to source a wooden laptop), try to buy second-hand, or one where it states "recycled plastic".
Golden Rule: All the best alcohol comes in GLASS bottles... If you're buying alcohol in a plastic bottle, you got issues, Hun.
